Some scenes also cut between night, day, night in weird ways too. Continuity is fucked up.
I guess their famous intro flyover of Westeros is the petard that gives too much perspective and calls into question the feasibility of characters insta-traveling.
Maybe think of last night's episode more like a Rocky training montage to show how much Tyrion and Varys agonised over the tricky predicament.
