It's a process that started in 2014 when the Ukrainians finally
got rid of the corrupt ex-president Viktor Yanukovych (a Kremlin puppet now living under protection in Russia). Unfortunately before they managed to remove the cancer it had already metastasized to the Donbas and Crimea. So, treatment has taken longer than expected but the long-term prognosis is for an eventual recovery.
