I think JK squandered NZ's moral authority at a time when it's most needed. But maybe he's right, maybe the need to be in "the club" is paramount with the future we're facing.
National is also squandering NZ's social capital to keep some backwards thinkers happy so they can stay in power. That's going to leave a long, painful legacy.
That said, it's an unfortunate truth that amongst the current stock of world leaders, JK looks pretty good.
