Uh... at low res, maybe. It _IS_ java after all - MOAR POWAH! It runs well with 2GB allocated to MC on a 4GB box, assuming you're not wanting any mods to make it prettier or similar.
Why not give MHG an iMac? It's Java - it is known to run OK on the iMac, and it's your comfort-zone nowdays.
