Eight hurt in Chile rally crash

Eight spectators were injured at a motor rally in Chile after a car spun off the track and into the crowd.

Local competitor Jordy Ceron lost control of his Misubishi Evo VIII during the first special stage on the second day of the Rally Mobil 2008 on Sunday.

Incredibly, Ceron managed to restart his car and complete the remaining 200 metres of the rally. The crash happened on the last corner before the finish line.

A 27-year-old woman suffered a fractured hip and an 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a fractured rib.

After crossing the line, he was arrested by police and tested for drunk driving.
