Biden / Nuland chose to regime change coup d'état. Publicly stating Ukraine can now join EU, and maybe join NATO. Russia couldn't have made it more clear that this was a threat to security of its borders.

Last time Russia attempted to set up something on US borders ... well OK that was in response to US setting up Jupiter missiles in Turkey ... but still, US chose to invade Cuba. Only US didn't use US soldiers, or even weapons. Just a bunch of ex-pat Cubans to be slaughtered on the beaches. Then CIA killed the president.
