The Bitcoin law was rushed through Salvadoran parliament in a matter of hours with no public consultation and hardly any debate. El Salvador is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. Most average people there have
no idea wtf Bitcoin is.
However, a survey by the Central American University (UCA) found that only 4.8% of the 1,281 people who took part understood what Bitcoin was and how it was used.
