I've gone through all this before but for the sake of the poop n00b here, I'll explain it again.
You need to create a crash pad by chucking a wad of toilet paper into the toilet before you drop a depth charge. This prevents splash damage.
Seriously, this is such an obvious thing to do. I can't believe I have to explain shitting habits to adults.
