Launch it briefly to make sure it opens, then close the Minecraft launcher.
Find where you downloaded "forge-1.6.4-9.11.1.965-installer.jar" to. This is an executable .JAR file - you need to run it like an application - DO NOT UNZIP. If your PC opens .jar files in a compression program by default, instead right-click and choose Open.
A window titled "Mod system installer" for Forge Modloader will open.
Choose "Install client" and click "OK"
Follow the prompts and it'll be done in a second or so.
When you now launch Minecraft, you'll see a profile called something like "Forge"
Choose it, log-in and there's your "Mods" menu item. |
Thanks crocos...this is where I went wrong...I'm pretty sure I tried opening the jar (well I thought I tried double clicking it)...but right click and opening it did the trick. Mod comes up on the Menu now.
