Respectfully disagree.

Although I agree it is about power. I see it as amplifying the oppressor/oppressed narrative so a vast imbalance illusion is painted and balance must be restored by any means necessary. It reads the headline and knows all it needs to know about a person. It's attack dogs are people who think similarly to roided up Ben Affleck when he snapped at Sam Harris for being "racist" and "gross".

The scary part is that I see myself in Ben Affleck here. My compassionate intuitive brain tells me that Sam Harris is a fucking xenophobe bigot! He must be stopped! To reassess my default position takes effort, and my brain is designed to conserve energy and go with its gut feel.

Granted, sometimes it finds a worthy target: An actual Nazi, a Harvey Weinstein, or white supremacist. But you have to admit the definition of "problematic person" get pretty loose when someone like Bret Weinstein is hunted across a university campus by people with baseball bats.
