If Putin was as serious about the NATO expansionist threat as he claims to be, he’d be attacking Sweden and Finland as well. He isn’t serious. There are no reliable reports on losses from either side, however the Ukrainians are highly motivated to defend their homeland, well-trained by the west, and well-supplied with modern weapons and equipment. The Russian conscripts are an alcoholic rabble who have to buy their own stuff and have no desire to be there. Russian regulars including VDV and special forces are already severely depleted, hence the need to resort to such low quality troops. They cannot win.
