Its very very strange for a Jumbo etc to be producing any kind of smoke from its engines under normal running, During startup you may get some grey smoke but thats only during startup.

You often see smoke when leaving the airport while under load. It's a dim blacker smoke which is sometimes hard to make out against blue sky, but is more easily seen on an overcast day.
