I'm also well aware of the fact SJ was around before zQuake i'm not sure where you are going with that? Without the special grens n shit i don't see a TF'er doing anything most DM'ers hadn't already accomplished and done better.
I feel like you're being a bit idealistic in your review of TF there, and might sound a bit arrogant of me to say it but i always believed in DM'ers being better on average than TF'ers. SJ was well crankin in DM long before Tonik bought out zQuake and the other spawned varieties. TBH i only got into TF when the DM scene died and found i could easily manage to play on an American server with a 300+ ping(was on dialup back then) and easily manage. I try playing with a 100 ping in aus on an average DM server and got found it bloody tough...
Thats my take on it, and as i recall most of the dm'ers i used to rocketjump around with felt the same way. Take it with sugar or make it sour if u want
