I never touched Minecraft before my kids were interested in it. During lockdown last year it became our LAN game of choice, with a local survival 1.16 Java server running, and the boys could just jump on and continue where they left off. (with keepInventory on to avoid any post-death meltdowns)
On many occasions it'd be me and the missus still running around & building well after the kids had gone to bed.
