Its intuitive that a lock down will lead to a short term decrease in death but also intuitive that in the medium and long term that it will lead to a increase. The longer the lockdown the more extreme the differences.

It might seem logical that the impact of an associated recession would lead to an increase in mortality but
historical data suggests that's not how it would necessarily play out. During the Great Depression for example, mortality rates were seen to drop in many developed countries.
