Because that's literally the situation, as
reported by Daily Mail.
The Democrats are themselves using Ukraine as a reason to vote Democrat. I could have said "America" but that would imply all of America (or at least all of the US government), which isn't the case. This difference may become more important after the November midterms if Republicans take back Congress, which is why I did emphasise Democrats, because this appetite for funding the war may change. Not all Americans are in favour of sending their tax money overseas while they have plenty of problems (and debt) at home. But thanks for asking.
