Well, authorities
do lack credibility. And as that undermines further, it's reasonable that a greater proportion of people will give up on trying to tease out where legitimacy lies. Just assume everyone in authority is a crook.
Minds would be blown if more really grasped the significance of the DSM, how what ends up in it is fought over, the degree of consequence it has relative to the public's general awareness of it.
