The digital yuan is a wet dream for the CCP and it'll do anything to make it happen.
1. Separate from the global economy. TOTALLY centralised. Fuck the USD.
2. Expiry dates on the tokens. As in, yes you may have 100 coins in your wallet, but they vanish on the last day of the month. The CCP will be able to ban saving. How's that for control of the economy.
3. Automation of fines. Step out on to the road before the walk signal flashes? Camera snap, facial ID, antisocial behaviour gets logged against your citizen profile, tokens get deducted from your account.
