MMO diablo would make me sad, but if done in a way where I could play offline too I'll be happy. I just hate town centers in MMOs. Totally destroys the immersion for me.
In Diablo 2 the towns are functional for healing and shopping and merc revival. Not hanging out, unless you're wrapping up a 4 hour session and saying gnight etc.
