Second point: one of the other problems is that people are giving up on the electoral system and they are starting to hate the people who are part of it. That's one of the reasons Key has been so successful and so popular, people regard him as an outsider, someone who already had a life before Parliament and who is looking forward to life after it. If your CV is "Young Nationals, Staffer to a National MP, List MP, Electorate MP" (or the leftie equivalent) then you are the wrong person for the wrong time.
