the current rigs and extraction methods wont suddenly cost more to operate, no, but as oil gets scarcer, the methods used to extract it are going to cost more. apparently oil rig manufacturers cant keep up with demand, too.
its a combination of factors of course. ever increasing usage is the biggest part, greedy oil barons who want to extract every last dollar from their patches is another, worry over decreasing reserves with no viable alternative in sight, its a mess. whos fault is it tho?
