Any practical suggestion of emergency housing will be castrated by health/safety regulations and NIMBYs. You would think places like maraes and churches (which benefit from not paying tax due to their social responsibility) could be set up as temporary shelters for homeless, but we won't do that because there is no crisis. Even if we did do that, there is no plan to actually solve the problem of affordable housing, so it would introduce overwhelming dependency that will be hard to dismantle. Hence, $5000 to get out of Auckland.

Better just to keep repeating that there is no crisis, and promise tax cuts (!).
