Apple was the one who delivered a 32 bit app that won't run under 64 bit Windows. That's the problem. This happened because they ignored the navigator.userAgent string. Another fail on Apple's part.
Google delivered a browser capable of offering the strings required, if it were asked correctly.
Microsoft put computers into every home. I'm not sure what you're expecting of them at this point, and how it's their fault exactly. The API is there.
