TBH the only part of 1.9 I'm interested in is bringing back snow biomes + NPC villages. Everything else? Meh.
The nether bridges is perhaps the only think I can think of that's worth waiting for - will make things like nether-rail much quicker to set up.
Personally I don't mind either way anymore, but I'm only an occasional participant on the server, so <shrug>.
