A friend of mine is a voiceover artist and is the official "Telstra Voice" in Australia. It's her voice that you hear when you call Telstra, or check your voicemail from a Telstra phone, or hear an ad for Telstra, etc etc.
It's quite disturbing. Whenever I hear her voice -- even if it's saying "Welcome to Telstra. For customer service, press one..." -- I instinctively go to say "Hi Jane, it's Simon, what's happening..."
But it's weird from the reverse direction as well. Earlier this year when my job got cut in a headcount-reduction at work I mentioned some of the HR hassles I was having with my employer in a conversation with her. It was really weird to hear The Telstra Voice say "Shit Simon, that sucks. You tell them to get fucked!"
