But the name was trademarked in 1997 and a device using that name was created and sold by Infogear. When Cisco acquired Infogear they discontinued the product but they held on to the tradename.

Apple knew that Cisco owned that tradename before they announced their iPhone, writers at ZDNet assumed that Apple must have licensed the use of that name when Apple announced their product.
