RWC 2019

The Bears run out of steam against the Cherry Blossoms!

The Wallabies given a hell of a scare by the Flying Fijians!

Los Pumas denied by a cunning droppy from Les Bleus!

The ABs put on the back foot by the Boks!

And that's just the first 24 hours!

blynk 30th September 2019 09:59

I have to somewhat agree about penalising the attacking player (Kerevi) for dangerous play.

If a defender can be penalised because in the process of tacking, the attacking player falls so the tackle hits the head (so no real wrong doing from the defender). Then an attacking player should be able to be penalised for something dangerous.
A fend against a the throat of a player would fall into that.

attacking the head, banned

blynk 1st October 2019 16:03

Yep, if 8 years ago the focus had been on protecting the head as much as it is today.

I think there is a slight difference in a defender using his palm on the face vs using his elbow (which is actually illegal).
But it could still be considered dangerous, maybe just in a different way.

Daym, Namibia playing their hearts out.

fixed_truth 10th October 2019 12:06

Japan win, Scotland lose in Typhoon Hagibis chaos
Absolute bullshit if they can't sort an alternative time or venue.

Lightspeed 27th October 2019 01:00

:D

fixed_truth 27th October 2019 12:09

Fuck me I've never seen the ABs absolutely dominated like that before. Oh well c'mon South Africa

Ab 27th October 2019 15:04

It's been a while since I've had a morning-after-the-ABs-get-knocked-out hangover.

England deserved that. Eddie Jones is surely the craftiest coach in the game. I don't think any one of the Roses is superior to his opposite All Black but they were definitely the better team on the night.

Grats!

BoyWonder 28th October 2019 19:47

So far this World Cup England have convincingly beaten Argentina, Australia, NZ and if I was a betting man I wouldn't put money on SA in the final. This is England turning the last World Cup result completely on its head.

Ab 30th October 2019 12:42

This “fined for disrespecting the haka” bullshit is bullshit.

crocos 30th October 2019 18:51

The FINE is what's disrespectful as it shows they have zero concept about what Ka Mate is saying and what a haka is. The haka is a challenge. If someone wants to respond rather than just standing there like stumps, that's GOOD.

Kapa haka expert deems England's 'flying V' a good way of retaliating to challenge - RNZ

Fair call!

fixed_truth 3rd November 2019 00:53

What an entertaining game! England just pipped us as the biggest chokers of the tournament. Bringing their A game to the semis then not backing up.

Ab 3rd November 2019 04:28

Totally. Was not expecting that game at all, England did NOT bring their gameplay of the previous week and South Africa played better than they have all year.

Gratz SA!

Lightspeed 3rd November 2019 13:53

I reckon their whole game was based around beating the ABs, what happened after that was of lesser consequence.

fixed_truth 3rd November 2019 17:10

Haven't checked snopes but apparently in every world cup so far any team that beats the AB's goes on to lose their next game.

BoyWonder 4th November 2019 09:13

Yep - that looks to be correct.

BoyWonder 4th November 2019 13:41

I take that back - 1991 Australia beat NZ and then beat England in the final.

blynk 4th November 2019 22:35

The game brought up the stupidity of the penalty advantage. England get a penalty near the goal line and basically the advantage doesn't end until they do something to lose the ball.
30+ phases.
Even the commentator said they can just keep going knowing they have the penalty

They have clearly played the advantage.

Needs to be changed to something like if they advance 10 metres, or 5 phases of play then advantage is over.

That would be a huge improvement

blynk 5th November 2019 20:10

Oh, I forgot the crucial one, a drop kick attempt is advantage over.

Ab 5th November 2019 20:44

+1 to the above
