ihug bliink 256k has gone unlimited- installation up to 3 weeks

ihug bliink 256k now has no data caps & no trottling for the home user
-------------
the installation will be completed within 5 -7 working days. Note - Due to high customer demand, installations during the month of November will take at least 3 weeks to process.

guess they are in the same boat as orcon

Noodles 11th November 2004 22:15

Afaik they can't throttle you back to 64k until telecom give them layer 2 access (which they will do soon). Will be interesting to see if ihug stay unlimited or do throttle people once they do get layer 2

Konev 12th November 2004 00:42

its UBS i think so there will be no speed capping.

ihug were going to cap speeds on their UBS plan

SpikE 12th November 2004 10:03

noodles is correct, this is a recent change to bliink 256
it used to have a 10gb cap (5 peak 5 off peak from memory)
speed trottled back once you used your data limits

now unlimted , at i guess the change is to compete with orcon's unlimited offering or it's because they found out they can't do it yet on UBS who knows

bliink 256k $49.95 / month if ihug tolls are also used

Macca@Work 13th November 2004 14:38

good..now ihug can have all the whiners calling them about false advertising and what a crock of bull shit
and everything else that goes with it..
I almost feel sorry for all the suc.. uh people
that are now with orcon and ihug etc.. (almost..)

Jeez, you're pretty uptight on this stuff these days Macca.

Are they paying you for this cheerleading?

cranz 14th November 2004 01:38

re: 3 week wait

afaik:
Telecom will only sign over 100 users during an ISP's "trial period" of UBS, wether an ISP wishes to offer UBS to customers during their trial period is up to them, it seems most have, as True UBS went live Nov 8th - so we're still in that period.

After that, telecom will change upto 30 users per 3hrs. so approx 90 people a day, during 8-5 business hours.

I think most ISP's are saying they can change people over during the trial period, which is causing the delays.. well thats what my workplace has done

well i could say the same thing about you Z..just about
every time i say or mention anything regarding telecom or js
you take it as opportunity to have a snipe..lighten up mate.
arent I allowed an opinion even if it differs from yours?

Macca@Work 14th November 2004 13:30

oh and fyi ..I work on the js help desk...
along with a few others from here i might add..
and I actually enjoy it..so no they arent paying
me for cheerleading..but they are paying me to help
people get onto JS...

Sure you are. It's just you don't seem to realise you have almost become the exact opposite of Hannibal on here. Him on one extreme, you on the other.

Macca@Work 14th November 2004 14:27

well thats a bit harsh..
im not continually starting new threads filled with crap but any way..
So how am I suppossed to be?
What is acceptable to you?
So i have to conform to your ideal?

MadMax 14th November 2004 16:35

ihug have been advertising it as unlimited for a while now: http://www.bliink.co.nz/bliink256.html

existing customers who signed up before the change now have unlimited, incase someone asks (duh)

Beccara 14th November 2004 18:18

hmm....

Note:

* Account types are flat rate; speed is limited to 64k after a quota has been reached on the bliink 256k lite plan. No excess fees apply
* Traffic includes national and international data.
* Peak 8am - Midnight. Off-peak Midnight - 8am.

Seems a little strange that a page saying umlimited downloads has a note about being shoved back to 64kb after you have burn through your limit

because if you read it properly, the speed reduction is refering to bliink lite not bliink 256. you even quoted it yourself

SpikE 15th November 2004 00:17

the only drawback i can see with bliink is if you have to use dailup
it's costs 2.00 per hr.
used to be covered by your jetstart/jetream monthy account

"You no longer need a separate dial up account if you want to connect to the internet when you are away from home. Simply dial up to ihug from anywhere in NZ using your ihug bliink login. Access costs $2 per hour and traffic used does not count towards your monthly data usage totals."

The usage meter database thingy (Axios)sp?

Delancey 15th November 2004 20:56
