Portal 2 Announced *may contain spoilers*

No surprises there then, but portal 2 has been announced

"Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Half-Life) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Portal 2 for shipment this coming holiday season.

Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007's Portal, which won 70 industry achievement awards"

If you view that announcement on steam you'll notice it has a hidden message.

drattmann0nee

Ratman lair is a term used for the behind the scenes areas in Portal.

As mentioned before it does refer to the lairs, as well as being a login and password for the BBS. Dr Rattmann/H0nee

Each icon is another piece of released data, including articles about its development, video interviews with valve, and a podcast on the subject.... but there is more to come. Worth a read, especially the history of Aperture Science.

If you've not played the Half Life series or Portal then obviously you shouldn't watch this, but instead go buy said games. Of course mentioning half life there in itself is a spoiler, so screw it.

Not if you've played HalfLife2 it's not. Or even heard "Still Alive". Makes it very obvious.

Have to load up 4 gig now, and then wait till after the 22nd to load the rest.

15GB bitches, and only cos orcon/vodafone are actually competing, cos it was originally 10GB.

I choose not to spend more on the net as I have kids and a wife and a house and shit to look after instead.

Vrtigo 19th April 2011 10:04

off peak uncapped ftw

Does the 360 version come with a PC copy option? The courier has been, but the boy isn't allowed to open my package.

Suffer in ya jocks!

Nah. I think this is a combination of an apology to PS3 gamers for the Orange Box fiasco (it was a disaster on PS3) and symptomatic of Xbox Live being a "closed" community, which would have made it a challenge for interaction between PC & Xbox 360 players.

On PS3, the game is integrated directly with Steam, which allows you to chat with your steam mates while playing it, play co-op cross platform and, if you link your steam account inside the game, it unlocks the ability to play on pc where you can also play from the same save-game (it saves to the "cloud").

mpx 21st April 2011 13:57

I started playing it a bit last night, about 20 mins or so (my attention span for games seems to be dwindling) and I really enjoyed it. I loved the first Portal and this was a good start for the sequal.

I was love/hate about the Ricky Gervais wannabe robot but most of the jokes had me smiling. Loved when GladOS rebooted and was being overly nice to you in a meanacing way.

That's as far as I've gotten, looking forward to having some nice time in Easter to play it some more!

"We've both said a lot of things you're going to regret." ?

If so, that was in the trailer. Looks like it could be good fun, but I'll wait for a special. :D

Yeah it was but I decided to spoiler tag it just incase someone was on the rag :P It carries on for a good while after that too, it's actually kinda creepy.

Has been most excellent so far, I suspect I'm about 75% through single player. Also played some co-op on the night it was released, about 80% of it (in around 4ish hours), was pretty awesome.

It doesn't take long to develop a bit of a language to describe to the other person what you think is required, and the extra pair of eyes helps a lot with some of the puzzles. Some had us in stitches for how absurdly long we took to come up with what suddenly was the obvious answer right in front of us.

Not sure co-op would be that replayable mixing someone who hadn't done it with someone who had. Helps if you both haven't seen them solved before, I think.

Also free for Mac. There's a Steam voucher code printed inside the PS3 case.

My little bugger is picking up the co-op stuff too quick... Had to send him to bed!

[BT]Monza 22nd April 2011 09:27

Yay, got my PS3 copy of Portal 2... sigh, PSN is down.

mpx 22nd April 2011 09:50

If I had known PS3 had a free PC copy I would've gotten that :(

Jenza 22nd April 2011 21:57

Portal 2 is easily the best game I've ever played.

Portal 1 coming in close(ish) second place.

mpx 22nd April 2011 23:43

I'm up to the part where GladOS turned into a potato, man I felt stink :(

I just absolutely love this game.

Jenza 23rd April 2011 00:51

Skanks 23rd April 2011 20:57
