Watching some of the actual people involved, a lot of them are still smiling and laughing with dozens of people holding up cell phones filming... Right now, this is still a spectacle to so many of them. They don't realise the REAL danger they face. To a lot of them, mainly 20-30 year olds, this is adrenaline, exhilaration, a connection to something that is bigger than them and a sense of danger.

The older people just seem tired and scared. They've seen it all before, and know where this could end up.

Agreed. If he holds true to form, then the risk of hundreds of deaths becomes very real. The terrifying thing is, that even if all of this plays out in a worst case scenario, he is still and most likely will still be the strongest candidate for four more years.

I wouldn't be so sure about Trump getting in again. November is still some way off - but if his handling of this and coronavirus is anything to go by, I would say his chances of winning another term are pretty slim.
Mind you, I did see some commentary saying if he didn't win in 2020, it's possible he would be the nominee in 2024 (although he would be getting on a bit by then - as would Biden).

The common theme for a lot of our problems is still "lack of trust" - whether its trusting leaders, trusting media, trusting richer/poorer people, or trusting people who are different to yourself [whether by skin color, language spoken, or political/gender/sexuality/etc preference]. We're still primal and tribal, even though we imagine ourselves to be civilized and past that.

It's probably not a stretch to say some groups of people are exploiting this for their own advantage, and it really depends where you sit as to who you suspect those groups of people are.

I think it's a bit much to say "Trump has killed 100 000" - would you also say "Jacinda has killed 22 people"?
