Old School Pics, JodiLAN, HamLAN 1, Auckmageddon1 (1MB)
 

Hey peoples, a lot of you won't recognise me but then again a few will remember. Just kicking back before hunting for my next contract and thought I'd post a few pics I found and scanned a while ago. Not sure on the dates of any of them as it's all become a bit of a blur after many nights on the Guinness.

The NZ gaming (Quake) scene has moved on since I left NZ in mid 98, but as I wander by I see a few of the old relics posting every now and again. Rince however looks to be posting too often, get a job dude.

My first public LAN, I'll call it JodiLAN held at some Auckland north shore high school.



I arrived late due to locking my car/work keys in the office at work while snaffling a big monitor for the LAN. So got to set up in the second room which I shared with from the left sOOperman, multikiller/mk, TriggaHappy, Sideswipe and Earthquake. The rest of the lan was in the room next door connected via a long bit of coax as we were all daisy chained together.

Second up we have a few from HamLAN 1. Again at some high school in Hamilton this time, profEric being the main organiser I think.



Don't know the two guys in the front but sitting far left we have Rince(wind at that stage), LordV and someone else. Then sitting facing we have the man himself Ab with the long hair and leather with the skater cap to accessorise, not sure who is next to Ab but Hobbes is standing in the orange shirt with drink in hand. Could be Whippy standing to his right and over by the door on the right we have Sideswipe again. Not sure whats happening, could be a Hurricane vs Muffins match?



This ones a bit of a blur but a couple more faces pop out with Ash standing facing against the back wall and Bradman sitting facing his screen to the right of the guy ash is talking to.



The other side of the room now on the left a few of the Hades Orphans crew Claymore, Immortal, Nemesis and Plague hiding behind Nem. A jump then to I think Baal in the brown jumper sitting. Standing with the blue horizontal stripped jumper could be Goose_. Up front close in KillerBee in denim next to Gibblets.

Then we skip on to Auckmageddon 1 held out at the Expo centre by the Airport.



This one is focussed on the UF (Unnatural Force, my clan for Bloodrain 1,2) boys front and centre. Bottom right with the cap is Bambi then EQ's flatmate, Earthquake, Firestorm , the Gimp (standing is theTick, Gimpys brother who was in Tiggers Friends) and then the truly McNasty. You can also spot Ab again in white shirt, leather waistcoat, skater style cap this time also sporting what looks like a sheriffs badge? Baal again in the back facing next to guy in the white shirt.



More of the same with Ab smiling for the camera and Orange seated to the left wit a couple of probable ESM'ers watching over his shoulder.

Sorry if I got anything wrong or didn't recognise anyone I should have. This isn't a bleat about the good old days, just sharing some pics I found from the days before digital.

Plus hello to all the guys who's places I LAN'd at and with through my Quake years. Vanilla + QW forever :).

ps. Have missed three Tool concerts due to flying out of London/NZ at the wrong times in the last year but I have finally triumphed. Manic and I will be front and centre for Tool Monday 13th May at the Brixton Academy. :)

Nope, thats not me - though in the background to Hobbes' right is Juju, ElectricMonk and I think Disgust? I was sitting down there though, so you got the general area right ;)

Just to add to the madness...I assume that Ab took the photo's himself as he doesnt appear in any of them... he gave them to me back in 97? 96? to scan and never got them back off me.

I've been meaning to scan them for 18 months or so now =] Juice's post got me motivated. They're from Hamlan1 and Auckmageddon1 - some might be mixed up in the wrong lan - but you get that...

First up - HAMLAN1 - the Proferics lan... BNC all round if I remember rightly...

Heres a general shot - I can see Incubus, me(?), Baal, Manic, errr..., McNasty, er..., and Immortal is on the far right... <edit> As Rince points out - its most likely him that everyone is watching! heh - that cap threw me off the scent</edit>

Heh, old school stuff. Fortunately I wasn't in any of the Hamlan1 pics or I'd get very mocked :). I think I was in the footage that they took of HamLAN1 on that @Xtra program though.

It's from Auckmageddon 1, Hurricane table. I was playing a 1v1 match against someone. Talisman is to my left.

And besides, why would anyone be watching Rince play? Muahaha....

that Pic of Hoon and Incubus was the Semi-Final of the 1 on 1 (there was only 1 game at that point..VQ of course) at Auckma 1..
At the time we were 3 hours overdue to vacate the premisis, and there was cleaners with vacum's all over the show giving us weird looks..lol

Infact, the strangest part was, the Final (between Incubus and Immortal) had to be moved to a Gaming Cafe in town the following weekend..

man those pictures bring back some memories, i was at that first lan in auckland - i had just got the first version of glquake which ran on a voodoo 1 card and the world turned into a different place - that hamilton lan i trundled in with about 10 orchid cards that people pre-ordered through me, that was in 97, fuck a lot chnages in 3d in 5years!

ah that was also when i spanked simon in q1 and then spanked my prelude up on the way home to wellington doh!

we need to set up a repository for old lan photos somewhere...

Thankfully I have been graced with not being photographed (except extreme bg) at lans. Except one..which isn't here :)

Oh and I couldn't find my/Jodi's lan photos..only I I could find is a rather unglamourous one of Borg. Jodi must have filed them away somewhere.
