Wat'choo playin'?
Current game of the moment for me is Human: Fall Flat - derpy 3rd person physics puzzler with multiplayer.
And I know I'm what, nearly 4 years behind? But just started Ork Murder Simulator 2014 on Deth's recommendation. |
I've been playing Offworld Trading Company. Really good fun.
I should really get into Overwatch or PUBG. I think I've mourned SMNC long enough. |
Destiny 2; once you reach level cap, the PVP is some of the best I've played since RA3. Great backgrounds and arenas, huge range of weapons (although invariably people stick to the select few that are currently OP), and good dynamics between the three classes once you get a good team who work well together _b

Zelda BOTW

PUBG
Overwatch Dying Light (co-op campaign) |
Overwatch & Pubg have slowed down to one or two games a week.
Playing lots of Superhot and Space Pirate Trainer on the HTC Vive a few nights a week. World of Final Fantasy has kept my attention over the last few days. |

* Soulsborne games. Just finished Bloodborne, working on DS3. Went back to play demon souls and realised that 2009 graphics don't really hold up anymore :D (so good at the time tho)
|
Overwatch, and I suck at it. Only can play on fri/sat nights when wife isn't at home, soooo about once or twice a month.
|
Anyone hitting up Path of Exile? Fun game, but too time poor to play.

Endless Space 2

Recommend viewing and planning out the very extensive talent tree prior to assigning any points. For it's age it's still bloody awesome. |

FACTORIO!
This is gaming perfection. |
When I'm playing, it's this:
https://forums.nzgames.com/showpost....postcount=4585 Haven't had much time to game for the last week. |
So some guy has released a ray traced version of Serious Sam:TFE . OK cool will give it a try. It uses some of the original game files so not standalone.
I've got a GTX3070 so runs pretty well (and also very pretty!), I had to turn mouse sensitivity from the default it was 60 I think all they down to about 20 it was way to fast for me. I finally remembered why I didn't get to the end of the original version and now I know, I suck at it. I completed the first level after a few goes and all I found was 1 out of 7 secrets. :( I also hate those fecking skeleton horse things, I absolutely hate them! Played the second level and after completion I still only had 1 out of 13 secrets. So played it until getting the first artifact or whatever it is and started the next level and got owned partway through it and at that point gave up and probably will never go back to it again but hey you never know. Link if anybody's interested. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/serio...load-for-free/ |
Wow, that looks really pretty.
I've been playing Starsector, it's pretty fun but still not really the sandbox world I'm looking for. Also been chasing high scores in Crimsonland. Except I've strained my left arm cause I keep thinking if I press harder my mans will move faster. I had to stop playing Minecraft for a bit, when I'd close my eyes my brain would start looking for ore in the noise of my vision. |
This week, Mario 64 on Switch. So good.
|
Is it the original? Or one of the "new" (but still ridiculously old) versions.
I afforded myself an N64 and this game in high school thanks to nights and weekends working at the airport, cycling to Mangere from Papatoetoe. It was pretty fuckin' legit, so worth it. |
Got a new high score on Shatter, on Endless mode. Now #30 overall, up from #50.
|
Just bought a GTX 3080 so I can play 4k on my 34" Ultrawide (which I really use for work) in native resolution without tweaking with settings. That card alone cost be me $2k but fuck it - I'm 40 and am allowed to buy nice things now.
I had a GTX 1080 from like 4 years ago which I bought for $650. I sold it when I upgraded for $675. Card prices be crazy. Anyhow - first game I play? Black Mesa remastered as it was $1.79 for a steam key on special. HL1 = Best Game Ever. |
On another note - the performance of the 3080 is unfucking believable.
I was playing Doom Eternal on 4k before and it was ok. Playing it now with this thing and max everything, it's like a different game. Technology be crazy. |
Nice rig!
Yeah, my 2080 Super is getting "old" now, but still hoons. I really feel GPUs could be used to produce some cool AI. I guess there's no money in it. The real money is rehashing games from 20 years ago for the much larger modern audiences. |
Well the hard stuff - story, art, design, script - has already been done and has already been amortised. Bumping up the res, re-doing the textures, porting to a new platform? Cheap.
|
I should really get amongst myself... I know the maths well enough, I know coding well enough, I know enough about behavioural models.
Could earn me some points come Roko’s Basilisk... |
I have to admit that I'm really enjoying HL1, enough so that I'll be playing HL2 afterward.
The old AAA titles (to oldies like us) really do hold up well. I definitely think there's less passion in developers these days in single-player games with a few notable exceptions (Mass Effect, Metro games or the Witcher series). |
Not played anything from the Metro series yet, though there are a few in my steam library.
Next on my list of "games I'm playing if not playing Minecraft" - well, once I've finished The Witness (or given up & used a walkthrough) |
I'm playing Outer Wilds. It's a classic style exploration/mystery game. Set in an alien star system with realistic flight mechanics (not Kerbel realistic). You fly around exploring the various planets and other object finding clues to unravel a mystery.
Very good fun. Pretty too. Quote:
Is Gabe still in New Zealand? |
Re: Gabe, I believe he still is - but his exit in and out is on a private charter from what I understand.
Black Mesa completely redoes the Zen levels from HL1 original. So much better. HL2 I'm looking forward to replaying. I haven't played it since it was released (like 20 years ago now?). It's like rewatching an old movie and realising - yup, this still rocks. |
Res
Is there a game that's like Galcon Fusion but with some rudimentary planet management thrown in whist still keeping things very simple for fast action? I guess instead of the ship production being dictated purely by the size of the planet, have it set by the available resources and technology etc that you've developed on it.
I've just finished the Tutorials for AI Wars which made me think of Galcon. |
