in other news, we tried putting $1000 into bonus bonds and that's returned $20 after a month what was that old foodstuffs bank returning?

Ohhh i may have to look into bonus bonds.

Saved 5 digits for a deposit on a house, the falling interest rates suck. Don't have enough $$ to buy a house so don't get to take advantage of low interest rates and my money returns nothing. :(

in answer to my own question, http://www.archive.org/web/web.php says 7.15

fidgit 18th March 2009 01:15

Got my RROD'd xbox back today. Took less time than I figured (3 weeks all up I think) and happened at what turned out to be a great time, as I've been busy as duck at work.

And they gave me a one month gold live card.

But the real oil is the shipping was all free - the charge on the return docket is listed as costing $150 Australian dollars. Consider they also paid to have it sent to them, they're spending half the cost of an xbox to repair each one. That's the kind of putting right that Mr Martin would be proud of _b

Finding out that my tui, which I rescued from the gutter a month or two back, fully recovered and was released back into the wild _b

I went into the veterinary clinic I took it to and asked, as they never got back to me.

monitoring tool was broken?

StN 19th March 2009 08:29

I'm picking that the CBD Welly Telecom outage meant remote monitoring was down.

Hah! - I cleaning out junk in my garage last weekend, I biffed the original packaing for DN3D and Jedi Knight. And Office97. I also had to use a sledge hammer to get the old Sparcstation5 and monitor to fit into the rubbish drum - in hindsight it would have been theraputic for one of my staff to do that - he's a bit anti-Sun for some reason.

Oils my gears because I already have a mortgage. It's nice to see the monthly payments go down for a change and it gives me a chance to pay it off even faster.

multiplayer works sweet :D

for vista it needed to be run as administrator, and on the laptop sounds would be disabled after a windows-key crash. restarting didn't fix it, it needed to be powered off (after much cursing and driver downloads and muckin around with sound settings)

Changing ownership for my new car, exempting a licence etc. online without having to goto the post shop (admittedly this has been around for awhile).

On this note, any recommendations for free dead car removal in Auckland?

CCS 22nd March 2009 22:04

The Broken Car Collection Company

Sensible judges:
Quote:

In a landmark case in America, a couple tried to sue Google [Street View] for invasion of privacy. Aaron and Christine Boring, from Pennsylvania, accused Google of privacy violation, negligence, unjust enrichment and trespassing for showing their home. Seeking more than US$25,000 ($44,800) in damages, their claim was dismissed by a judge.
Oh... and their surname is also gear-oilingly and aptly amusing...

Macca@Work 23rd March 2009 12:22

So what exactly is "unjust enrichment."?

caffiend 23rd March 2009 12:32

Errr... it's fairly self-explanatory, isn't it? It's getting rich (enrichment) when it's unjustified (unjust). They tried to argue Google was making cash off the image of their house (and presumably all houses and private property).

Cyberbob 23rd March 2009 13:15

Picking fights at Harvey Norman - getting them to explain why their $179 HDMI 1m cable is so much better than the $59 HDMI 5m cable I can get next door.
