The Hurt Locker
Easily the best war movie (Iraq) I've seen in a long time.

Watched Cashback a few nights back, it's a great movie_b _b

Yes I watched this a week ago and really enjoyed it. My only question is, why did they kill their only name actor (Guy Pierce) in the first 5 minutes? Was he being a cock on set or something?

At a guess, without having heard of / seen the movie - budget :)

cryocore 5th July 2009 23:11

Check out Red.
Awesome.
Shitheads kill mans dog.
Man seeks justice.
Justice denied.
Man seeks a little harder.

Ashley 6th July 2009 08:27

Cashback was great, thanks for the tip.

lektronimo 6th July 2009 08:59

Charlie Wilson's War. Best political comedy, with notable Tom Hanks and Phillip Seymore Hoffman performances. Julia Roberts is pretty good in that one too.

Helious 7th July 2009 14:08

Watched Cashback, very good film. Cheers

Is this movie actually good? I think I've tried twice to watch it .. but been bored to shit while watching it then gave up...

Wasn't probably paying it enough attention.

Helious 7th July 2009 15:36

I've seen Red, was pretty good I thought. Something you'd watch on a Sunday, it's only 90mins long. The ending is particularly good.

Know me. 7th July 2009 21:19

Have you seen all these? I started working my way through the top 200 on IMDB.

Enron The Smartest Guys In The Room
The Elephant Man
Little Miss Sunshine
1984
V For Vendetta
One Flew over The cuckoos nest
Inherit The Wind
Into the Wild

definitely a great doco _b hard to believe some of the shit they got away with! but a lot of the regulations which now exist to keep this from happening were only brought in due to Enron's utter rape and pillage of the corporate system.
a must watch

I just finished watching In The Loop

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226774/

Brilliant way to spend just under 2hours, thoroughly enjoyed it - was glued to the screen, check it out if you're that way inclined ;)

Synopsis:

IN THE LOOP is a foul-mouthed comedy that draws on non-specific events to create a world that is terrifyingly familiar: The US President and UK Prime Minister fancy a war, but not everyone agrees that war is a good thing. US General Miller (James Gandolfini The Sopranos, The Taking Of Pelham 123) certainly doesn't think so and neither does the British Secretary of State for International Development, Simon Foster (Tom Hollander Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice). But when the mild-mannered minister inadvertently appears to back the war on prime-time television, he immediately attracts the attention of the PMs venomously aggressive communications chief Malcolm Tucker (reprised from The Thick of It by Peter Capaldi), who latches onto him like a hawk. Soon, the Brits are in Washington, where diplomatic relations collide with trans-Atlantic spin doctors and Fosters off-hand remark quickly spirals into an insurmountable mountain of conflict

The extended version of The Chronicles of Riddick is good, if you liked the original film.

'Inglourious Basterds' - Tarantino did not disappoint. The amount of tension that the dialogue built up in the first scene alone was amazing. Dark, raw and the odd bit of gore - I found it a very powerful movie. Thoroughly entertaining and overall an amazing cinematic achievement _b

I found the second chapter about the "jew soldiers out to get nazi scalps" so unbelieveably fucken lame I almost left....

but the rest of the movie well made up for that, tbh I dont think Pitt added anything to it, in saying that he played who he was meant to play perfectly.

The dude who played Landa was awesome.

Speechless? Both times I watched it, I couldn't sleep either nights.

I keep trying to work out where I saw a live version of "Man of the hour" - I thought it was a DVD extra, but I suspect it was a late night music vid.

lektronimo 4th September 2009 22:18

If you're a photogapher, or after European cinema, then watch Gomorra. Incredible storytelling, amazing cinematography and a very revealing story about Italian crime. It's one of those movies like Donnie Brasco, The Departed or Godfather series which stays with long after you watched it. _b

cryocore 4th September 2009 22:26

Just checked out Doubt and Frost/Nixon

Both are excellent, and not your usual Hollywood Oscar sluts.

also Role Models made me squeal with girlish glee and clap my hands together (and yes that is infact a recommendation).

Asa 4th September 2009 22:37

anyone seen this movie called Primer ??

one of those movies where u gotta see it 2-3 times.
