Knight Rider 2008 pilot is available...

Ashes to Ashes has started in the UK (spiritual sequel to Life on Mars). Gene Hunt + Keeley Hawes = instant win.

[BT]Monza 19th February 2008 16:40

Something about an Audi Quattro in it eh?

Kryten 19th February 2008 16:42

Heh, only just read about that today. I was going to watch this anyway (didn't realise it had started), but the Audi's sold me completely :)

Also, very LOL at the Top Gear episode with Philip Glenister.

Ab 19th February 2008 16:52

Finished my West Wing marathon in the weekend. What the hell am I gonna watch now? I might continue the Sorkin theme...

How far in did you watch? I hated almost every episode after Sorkin left and it got new writers.

[BT]Monza 19th February 2008 16:55

Worth it? I'm doing a Sopranos marathon atm...

I watched 'em all, from the pilot to the series finale.

Yeah, the show definitely lost its mojo when Sorkin burned out... when Rob Lowe quit too. Seasons 5 and 6 were nowhere near seasons 1-4. But I thought the end of season 6 and season 7 were a return to reasonable form, mainly because there was a story arc through it all. The thing that pissed me off the most about 5 and most of 6 was that the storylines were nice and short and easily digestible and everything got resolved in the space of one episode. "Watch Toby fix Social Security - tune in next ep for something else! Watch Bartlet identify and nominate a liberal female Chief Justice - tune in next ep for something else!" that sort of thing. In the old days those storylines would have been explored for ten episodes each. And the "top-secret military space shuttle!!1" storyline was pathetic, a real shark jump moment. It just totally destroyed the character of Richard Schiff's Toby Ziegler.

Still, an average West Wing episode is better than anything showing on TV these days, so I'm happy. Monza - definitely worth it.

Kryten 19th February 2008 17:32

Watch. The. Wire.

chiQ 19th February 2008 22:01

Ooh, Knight Rider. I liked it. I like the car anyway. I think 'Mike' is a knob though.

I saw Kitt, and my first thought was 'blimey, Kitt's a Mustang', but it had a Cobra thingie on it. WTF is it?

Gene Hunt is an absolute legend - "Right, let's fire up the Quattro".

If you watched and liked Life on Mars, get into this.

Its a shelby. A Shelby GT500KR.

The cobra snake is the emblem of Shelby. Sort of a trademark of Shelby and SVT

chiQ 20th February 2008 07:56

Ah so it is (did a Wiki search), which is, in turn, a Mustang :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mu...Shelby_GT500KR

-Dr.J- 20th February 2008 11:23

Yeah. Shelby was inherited by Ford many moons ago. Shelby most famously made the AC Cobra, a car that has such a gorgeous shape and untamable power that it's still heavily knocked off in kitsets to this day. Getting a hold of an original will cost you the earth.

eek at that horribly rendered pic...

Anyone else watching Breaking Bad???

SUCK ME SIDEWAYS this show is intense. Pretty cool plot outline, well acted by the main guy and a few of the sub cast.

Great series. Even when it's slow paced I still like it. The main guy is great in this role.

I need something else similar to watch atm (least till Mad Men comes back, also from AMC).

Helious 12th March 2008 17:00

I saw an episode of Mad Men was released today.. only episode 2 from season 1... is this the same Mad Men?!

(or maybe someone specifically requested it -- and I just haven't done my homework(which I haven't))

Ab 12th March 2008 17:08

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Loving it so far - three episodes into the one and only season of its run. All the rapid-fire witty dialogue of early West Wing, it's there.

ZoSo 12th March 2008 17:08

I think they're repeating season one over there atm so yeah, will probably be another rip of it, or they dragged out the old ones.
Mad Men is very slow paced and a bit drawn out though. So not to everyone's taste.

Enjoy the goodness while it lasts (about two more eps).

Ab 12th March 2008 17:43

THANK YOU VERY MUCH MR. KILLJOY.

Does it really go downhill? Damn. The pilot and 2nd ep were pure brilliance.

Solvent 12th March 2008 18:50

I'm inclined to agree with Ajax, the quality definitely dropped off as a romantic focus was introduced in much of the seasson (from what I recall anyway).

Mad Men is absolutely killer, but as Zoso alludes to, very slow and reflective, not to everyone's taste.

Helious 12th March 2008 19:31

Whoa, Studio 60... I remember when that first came out, such a good show.

But didn't last long :/

A new show called The Fixer recently started, looks promising so far.

I remember a reviewer writing that 'Studio 60 is like the Rand Corporation Think Tank doing a late-night sketch show.' Anyway, yeah, it starts out as strongly as you'd expect from a Sorkin show, then IMO kind of goes off the rails. Harriet made me want to cry and cut. But of course your mileage may vary.

True that. I LOVED that show, well early on at least. Watching the last few episodes (maybe the last third of the season) was more painful than drug-free labour. I really, really wanted that show to end as good as it had started, but you'd make better use of your time watching American Idol season 547,895.

On a happier note, I've just started watching Dirty Sexy Money on tv2 and I'm fully enjoying it. Plus Donald Sutherland is such a silver fox.

-Dr.J- 13th March 2008 20:14

BREAKING BAD

WATCH IT FIFFIS.
