Dude if you can't use Imessage/Facetime/Signal you will have to send snoopable SMS messages and make snoopable phonecalls in the clear. What's the point in that?

Simple, I do all my Signal / Discord chatting when I am at home. When I am out, my phone currently stays home. It's just so I can be contacted when out.

Also 1 month battery life will be perfect for taking on 3-5 day hikes.
