I agree, and it's only our own fault to blame that he is heading overseas. We didn't nurture him well enough and give him enough opportunities in the All Blacks. Mauger's the sux, as we'll see in the world cup, and as we have been seeing in the super14 this year.

Interesting comment I read somewhere yesterday -- went along the lines of "It must be incredibly frustrating for Williams to have it proclaimed that he was sent home with the approval of senior Blues players, including Troy Flavell -- whose discipline issues make Williams look like a saint, and who stands to personally gain from Williams's absence by ensuring he himself is on display before the All Blacks selectors and Williams isn't".

I don't think Flavell is competing with Williams though. More a case of Thorne or Flavell, to cover blindside and lock.
