This is what we fight for. Kids going wild in our communities, best stand up for money for Shakespeare.
And you stand up for it by engaging in the very same fake news bullshit you complain about. Nothing was cancelled, the event was fine. But rich folk were hurting which means we're all hurting. Y'all are so fucking cringe. (I don't follow TikTok, so if you know that's trending, well I hope you're enjoying TikTok.) |
Looking at the schools involved in the festival, there's a pretty good range of socio-economic backgrounds including several decile 3s.

The fact that you don't even realise you are repeating vocab, attitudes and memes you have absorbed from popular culture kind of says it all really. |
I don't know what you think it says, but I can tell that you're so caught up in some subculture you assume everyone else must be as well. I also notice that you have to step in and somehow police they way people communicate.
What I don't see is how any of that it relates to people complaining about Shakespeare being cancelled, when in fact nothing was cancelled? Just some rich folk had a little less money in their pockets. |
Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand is a registered charity.

Cambridge University attempts to demonstrate its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by removing gendered terms from (checks notes) the German language

Looking at some articles on sexual assaults at local schools, I noted that one of the chaps pictured had te moku - which is pretty cool I thought. Until I realised he was referred to as the Head Student. Of a Boys' school. I mean, I know St Andrews changed to rules to allow girls to attend, but they weren't called St Andrews Boys'. Or does the very matter of attendance at a school named with a gender in the title oppress?
Then I had a closer look. The article in the locally reported media outlets (ie The Press) called him the head boy. But the RNZ version dialed up the woke factor. I hope none of the trick or treaters go near my lawn next week... |
“te moku”?

Kanye West's public theater showcasing how he can't be cancelled isn't going too well.

He's right though...

Music is transcendent imo, you can disassociate the person from the art.

He's an Engineer? Yeah, nah. He doesn't care about money and won't claim to be the richest black man ever, well, that bit is sorting itself out! (Don't listen to him Mansa Musa!) Just designed a bubble house where the water and air come in through a hole and there is a wet room and a dry room and - oh FFS - what a clownshoe. |
Yep he's a religious nutter who won't take responsibility for managing his mental health.

But his hit rate is undeniable. Remember when Kanye took mic from Taylor Swift? She won an award for some shitty country song music vid. Do you remember what song it was? How the verse goes, the chorus? Is anyone even playing that song anymore on Spotify? Now go watch what Beyonce was nominated for... Kanye was right. |

Columbia University professor: Asian students get accepted to universities because of their racial privilege
https://twitter.com/Columbia/status/1587514821179736064 |
^^ I thought this was an old story? I guess NTY thinks they control the overton window ("wahey, it's new to us! ... or we only now found a way to frame this issue.")
The Asian students took Harvard to the supreme court over it. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/educati...ege-admissions Don't fuck with the smart races, stick to fucking the dumb races, Harvard. ... ... I'm joking! |
The Harvard suit was about Asians getting excluded from Harvard because racism even though their grades were more than good enough.
The NYT article is a Columbia professor claiming that Asians gain entry to courses because they have racial privilege, i.e they are "white-adjacent". |
Same anti-racist journey, different university. Harvard didn't arrive at handicapping Asian enrollment without first conflating White / Asian privilege.

Midwives now avoiding the use of any gendered language
Except for the obvious one of changing their title to "Midpartner". |
But the word 'wives' is ok?

Imagine.
A woman for 3 days drifts between absolute sharp primal focus, and exhaustion. She discovers a mode of being and a realm she never knew existed, she and her partner don't even recognise her. There's no denying it, she is awesome. Possessed and awesome! She is connected to her beautiful baby, she's going to love it for the rest of her life. This pain, and all future pain is worth it because of the unending, unconditional love. Even though she's in incredible pain, she jokes with her baby "Oh you're already being stubborn like your father!" It starts here. Her family & future generations, this is for you. Her ancestors & every other mother in all of earthly human history, she is honoured and humbled to walk the same path. Nothing else matters This is life in it's purest essence One more big puuuuuuuush The room fills with this tiny, feeble indignant cry. "Congratulations, birthing person. It's a humanoid! Would parent #2 like to cut the umbilicle?" |
neonatal intensive care units will be kicking trans men out of their units before 19h00 each evening then, right?
|
Looking into it it seems they're proposing to use the more inclusive term 'whanau' in the organizations legal & official documentation.
https://midwiferycouncil.health.nz/P...-Practice.aspx I can't see anything to suggest that it will effect their day to day speech or stop them addressing clients the way they want to be addressed. |

I wonder if it's trying to do something with nothing.
Insight on how to improve services, meet escalating demand with dwindling resources is hard to come by. But if you're running these organisations, you've got to do something, right? |
