O'Connor is rumoured to be interested in standing for Labour in the Wellington electorate of Ohariu, held by United Future leader Peter Dunne.

"I'd be lying if I said we haven't had discussions with him. But what happens with Ohariu or any seat where we are yet to select the candidate, that is yet to be done."

O'Connor often took a hardline stance on law and order when Police Association president, including calling for police officers to be armed.

Little said "Greg lines up perfectly" with Labour's position that there was a need for a well-resourced police force able to respond to victims.
Problem?

Oh for sure the guy's a bit of a muppet. But he's a comparatively conservative law & order promoter with somewhat of a public profile. I'm speculating that politically he'll appeal to soft National voters in the same way his cousin does.

Hmm, must be tied to cookies, never thought of that. It was just a forum search for "greg o'connor".

Nah, it's that the search-cache only lasts about 5 min.

After numerous letters and submissions were made to health board bosses from employees and independent organisations, senior medical officers were shocked by their decision, the staff member said.

"[ADHB] just refuted everything."

"They didn't address any of our concerns, and gave us no reason as to why this is going on."

"It's like 'alternative facts'," she said, in a reference to the term used by US President Donald Trump's administration to insist untruths are reality.

New Zealand Initiative's Crampton said he believed the main reason for rising house prices was a lack of foresight in urban planning.

Boomers had stopped the densification of housing in desirable suburbs. And a "misplaced" environmental concern had seen them oppose urban sprawl, he said.
Best i've read in a while. I thought I was the only one who remembered how they denied urban sprawl until they flipped after the "chink" incident.

Also, good old angry andy thanking national for the surpluses today for his future plans. What a surprise.

Given that this is the momentoftruth fakenews clickbait era, I can't help but notice Maddow's tweet says "Trump tax returns" rather than "Donald Trump's tax returns".

12 year old tax return?

SO how about them chemtrails...

My money is on it's a deliberate leak by the WH themselves to deflect from something else that's about to drop.

It's too convenient, a leaked return that shows nothing untoward wrt Russian ties.

CCS 15th March 2017 19:02

So... uh... so far this is sounding a lot like Geraldo and Capone's Vault.

Actually that's the first thing that the reporter guy said - he said that not only could this leak have come FROM Trump, but that Trump has form for leaking about himself to achieve what he wants.

crocos 16th March 2017 12:19

Also if you think that's Trump's only income... Dude seems dodgy as fuck.

Lightspeed 17th March 2017 11:54

A question about budgets. If the education minister's budget has increased by 35%, yet schools are reporting an increase in budgets of ~3%, where is this budget being spent?

Is healthcare and other budgets similar? Because the story does seem to be both increased budgets and reduced services due to insufficient funding?

Um, on stuff that isn't primary and secondary teachers?

Off the top of my head: buildings
Or: anything connected with tertiary education

Lightspeed 17th March 2017 14:58

It strikes me as disengenous that when teachers complain about funding the minister retorts back that spending has increased 35%.

And do we know that this is where money is being spent? It's not like tertiary institutes are reporting being flush.

I need to learn how to write effective official information requests.

CCS 17th March 2017 15:06

Maybe just email the minister?

Can this data be used to understand the discrepancy between education ministers claim of a 35% increase in funding and the education community's claims that they're not seeing this funding? Is it just those not getting funding are having a sook while those enjoying the boon are just too busy using the money to talk about it?

Ab 17th March 2017 20:41

The Nzherald used to do a really informative visual breakdown of budget data back before NZH became tabloid reality tv shit, you could instantly see not just dollars but percent change. Is that shit still online?
