Bloody hell mpx. I knew your lava house was a bad idea :P

mpx 12th October 2010 10:10

For your information, I removed the lava and planted a new sad forest above my house! So it wasn't me, so THERE! :P I was more worried whether or not it spread to mine, which it didn't, so it's all good hehe.

For me it feels more satisfying building stuff you got yourself, I didn't really have fun on the free version. But mostly I think it's because eventually it will be out of alpha and hopefully working properly!

p01s0n 12th October 2010 10:16

feels good to give nzgamers a place to collaborate and create.

Rince 12th October 2010 10:52

"working" from home this morning - minecraft keeps crashing :(
so I guess I will have to work, after all :( :(

(wonder if it's the citrix client - which is java based as well - causing the crashes)

Rince 12th October 2010 12:49

minecraft.net is unreachable :(

crocos 12th October 2010 13:18

Is anyone using the Painterly Pack?

There's a pretty neat cavern system below it too

pxpx 12th October 2010 18:49

Shuttle will look awesome - what material was used to make the chessboard? We'll need a poopton of that for the shuttle, and obsidian to boot!

I like the mine-then-build process, when we built sealab we had (I think) 4 people mining the main hole, then everyone switched on to glass production, while others sorted out the water.

Needs patching tho.. we need electricity!

p01s0n 12th October 2010 19:06

this game would be amazing if it was bought out by a major company and given a proper game engine and graphics overhaul, but maintained the completely free-form gameplay.

IceFox 12th October 2010 20:15

I made some stairs and finished the shuttle platform

while I reckon that improvements could be made in engine and graphics I'd say it's pretty cool as is and doesnt seem to require a beast pc so that's nice

cant wait for halloween update

pxpx 12th October 2010 21:34

more stuff

Notch has said he will be optimising the engine once its in beta next year. He has also hired some art staff to work on the games looks etc.

mpx 12th October 2010 22:01

You playing on our server Spink? I think you should. It's getting preeetty awesome in there.

Sam 12th October 2010 22:53

Have bought this - just playing around in single player at the moment getting the idea of things. Might try out the server later :)

pxpx 12th October 2010 23:49

Makin a special treat for everyone... if you see a giant concrete tunnel quite far away, please leave it :)

Luckily I've been playing the game at the time those events happened, but I'm not always on like some of you. So if for some reason it all goes to shit while i'm not around, just post in here asking for a restart and I'll get it sussed as soon as I can.

I have it running on a debian VPS inside a screen session, so rebooting it from my work, home, phone etc is a trivial task.

Can I grab your msn dude? Need to talk to ya ass about something

p01s0n 13th October 2010 00:10

Had a poke around today, might do a bit more later!

What's the most active time of day?

cantide 13th October 2010 01:10

Is the server working ok? Logged on to p01s0n's server, 212.117.164.158, got dropped in a little room with a stream running through it, and the blocks auto-regen if I try to escape. Perhaps I am missing the secret exit... and the small room is a n00b b0x.

Lightspeed 13th October 2010 01:36

.

Vrtigo 13th October 2010 09:10

yea the server is down now, not that im trying to log in at work..

p01s0n 13th October 2010 10:10

looks like the actual server is down, can't ssh in. Will keep you posted.

Usually evenings when everyone's home from work. So 5 - 9 I would say.

cantide 13th October 2010 11:38

Thanks p01s0n, you rock for running a server!

No.. I'm not rechecking this page religiously for an update or anything...

o9 13th October 2010 11:44

Any idea when multiplayer damage is coming?

Also what happens if a mine gets filled with water? Can you block the water flow and it'll go away? Or do you need to dig a hole for the water to go?

Vrtigo 13th October 2010 11:58

yep, you can block it and itll all evaporate, theoretically

Spink 13th October 2010 12:08

If it's a water source tile (completely full of water) you need to take it away in a bucket or fill the square though

Particularly important if trying to build underwater.

Sponges!

If you block off where the water is entering with a sponge you can drain things back + build walls.

cantide 13th October 2010 15:09

SPONGE!

Where does one.. source said sponge?

Sam 13th October 2010 15:23

Don't think they work in alpha...

Quote:

Sponge is only available as a normal building block in Creative mode. However, in Survival mode, it is possible to obtain sponges by placing them in the map in creative mode and loading the file in survival. The sponge functions the same here, as well as in Indev. Sponges do not work with the new dynamic water system currently in Infdev and Alpha.

crocos 13th October 2010 15:46

:( Sponges sounded cool.

Rocket 13th October 2010 15:49

This free for multiplayer or what

crocos 13th October 2010 15:50

9.99€ while it's in Alpha.

cantide 13th October 2010 15:52

Sponges sounded the boss

crocos 13th October 2010 15:53

... Who are you anyway? New to NZG or an Alt acct?
