I emailed them back saying "Why has it not been sent already? It was supposed to be sent on Monday."

Now they email me to say:

"Hi,
Thanks for your email.
Sorry still waiting for lens, its on back order. No stock with supplier.
Kind Regards,
Online Team"

Whaaaaat.

The Edge 21st October 2009 20:20

Start talking about going to the Consumer Guarantees Act or the Small Claims Court. That might make them buck up their ideas.

Trigger 21st October 2009 20:54

I just wanna express my continuing good experience with Ascent.
Had problem with a UPS, got it sent back as faulty, they paid for shipping, RMA processed with no issues. Then a return for a credit processed smoothly with no issues.

Then another order, item was not in stock, decided to cancel it, another credit processed with no issues.

Prompt and polite communication throughout, awesome customer service.

They will definitely get my future business :) In fact, placing more orders soon!

whats the model etc i have a sneaking suspicion i know who its coming from so i can actually check for you :)

Cyberbob 22nd October 2009 21:29

It's a Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG II HSM

This is getting fucking ridonkulous. I ordered this motherfucking thing from them over half a month ago, paying for an urgent courier and everything. The event I needed it for has been and gone.

The Edge 23rd October 2009 00:13

Did you try the FTA/CGA line? Otherwise just do a chargeback dude. I really think they couldn't care less about you as a customer (unfortunately). Since you paid by credit card, you'd be protected :)

It was a direct transfer unfortunately. They were ASB, I was ASB.
"yay, things will go quicker!"

True, but that sucks for you :( Are you in Auckland? If so, I'd go in and see them...but I have a feeling you aren't?

Cyberbob 24th October 2009 18:58

Na, welly.

I emailed them and talked about CC, CGA, legal stuff.. and almost immediately got my email forwarded to someone else, and they replied saying sorry, the distro keeps changing the dates on them, and they'll refund it asap.

Never. again.

Expert Infotech... Avoid at all costs. They're regularly the cheapest on Pricespy too, so no doubt there's many people choosing them on price/delivery promises.

Save your money and yourself the headache (if you can) and head around the corner to PBTech.

Around the corner? Expert Infotech is in glenfield... And yes, they run their retail store like their own little tyrannic empire.

Finally got the refund for one of the lenses. Almost a month after ordering. Woop.

The Edge 29th October 2009 23:49

Make sure you post some appropriate feedback on Pricespy ;)

Anyone know the law regarding second-hand goods still in warranty? I have Playtech refusing to honour the warranty on a video card which sounds like bullshit to me.

eliot 3rd December 2009 10:00

Yep - where did you get it from? And what is the full story?

Fx. 3rd December 2009 10:07

go direct to manufacturer

what brand is it, how old is it ?

Deff 3rd December 2009 11:02

XFX 8800 GTS, Manufactuers Website Ticket system wanted me to return to where it was purchased.

eliot 3rd December 2009 13:03

Where did you get it from and do you have the receipt? The only way they can decline a warranty claim is if you cannot provide a proof of purchase, and even then, Playtech are normally pretty good about this sort of thing.

Email eliot AT ascent dot co dot nz and I can try and help you out.

?>Superman 17th December 2009 11:47

Anyone bought from Laptop Universe before?

Where do most people generally get their laptops from nowadays?

badassmofo 8th March 2010 14:54

Purchased a BenQ monitor from ExtremePC in October last year, it's now died. Have emailed their RMA department to have it replaced and am being informed I need to contact BenQ to do a warranty claim.

Over my dead body. ExtremePC better sort this out. I knew being a tightarse would cost me in the end!

Lightspeed 8th March 2010 15:03

I guess it should be no surprise companies still try that sort of shit on.

badassmofo 8th March 2010 15:44

Ugh, they are saying I have to contact Benq, as they do the warranty. That's it. I'll never buy from them again.

Lightspeed 8th March 2010 15:45

You can quote the CGA if you wanted. Just show up with the bupkis screen with proof of purchase and get them to sort it out.

Although that might be more trouble than it's worth.

cEvin 8th March 2010 15:48

Another gold star for Ascent, sif buy from anywhere else these days.

Needs more NZG discount code though :)

?>Superman 8th March 2010 15:58

I agree, Ascent should hook up NZG'ers...I got my RTA1025w from them along with a great number of other items for friends/myself :D

IIRC Ard Righ works for Ascent or used to at least?

badassmofo 8th March 2010 16:30

its fairly standard for the store to say ring the 0800 number, all monitor manufacturers have an 0800 pick up return warranty over here these days, however they should offer to do it for you, it will take longer for them to do it however as theyll need to ring the 0800 number and arrange it

A Corpse 8th March 2010 20:23

Doesn't sound like Ascent need to offer any discounts, they get the business anyway. :D

Body Count 15th October 2010 14:16

PP = _b

Had an issue with my new Razor Deathadder mouse, rung up mark @ pp. well on the phone he sorted out the return and e-mailed me all info for the rerturn/replacement.

10/10 from me

Bought my entire new system threw them, from the case all the way threw to a mouse pad and everything in between.

No issues w/ del, service etc etc

GG PP :D

mr selfdestruct 1st January 2012 18:39

Hey guys, has anyone bought a phone from Fair Buy NZ? They seem legit. Hong Kong based company that's come to NZ who claim to knock off 40% off any NZ retail price. Thinking of buying a new phone there but hoping they're not a dodgy fly by nighter.

Golden Teapot 1st January 2012 21:11

Just bear in mind that a lot of things you can buy from Hong Kong are replicas.

madmaxii 1st January 2012 22:17

But even more are genuine :)

What are their payment methods? If they have a Paypal option you are pretty well covered.

mr selfdestruct 2nd January 2012 00:02

They are paypal registered and apparently trading on TradeMe since 2005 but now just through their website. Shame I can't find their old TradeMe username to check out their feedback :/

mr selfdestruct 16th April 2012 16:51

vbattery.co.nz , real cheap laptop batteries. Ordered one, its faulty :( Emailed them for an RMA to get it replaced. Emailed them again... zero contact from them in 4 days, pretty slack :(

mr selfdestruct 16th June 2012 13:42

hmmm long story but eventually they sent me a replacement because i couldnt send the faulty one back to hong kong for less than $90 (more than the battery cost).

So many places that get their stuff from hong kong, dirt cheap but buyer beware!
